The Twilight Collection of books were created by talented author Stephenie Meyers and consists of four novels. The main theme running through the complete series is about the relationship between two people, one who is a human and one who is a vampire.
The first book in the series is called Twilight, which has now
been made into a feature length film which has been hugely successful all around the world.
The Main Characters Of The Book
Isabella Swan
Isabella Swan is a girl of 17 who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father. Her mother has recently remarried and is off on the road with the new husband so she chooses to give them their space.
One of the interesting facts about Isabella, or rather Bella, as she likes to be known, is the fact that she tends to injure herself quite a lot due to her clumsy nature.
Edward Cullen
At first it seems that Edward Cullen is like any other teenage boy. However we soon discover how different he really is. He is in fact a vampire who was born over a century ago. He is very good looking so all the girls at school find him attractive although he is somewhat aloof.
When Bella & Edward Meet
The first time that these two characters meet, Edward is very rude to Bella. He can not get away from her fast enough. We find out later that there is a distinct reason for his strange reaction to her.
As a vampire, he is attracted to the smell of her and the scent of her blood drives him to distraction. At first he tries to ignore and avoid Bella but he simply can not. Once Edward acknowledges his attraction for her, it is reciprocated quite quickly.
The strange but endearing love story unfolds and we learn all about Edward’s past and that of his family. They are all vampires but have chosen to abstain from drinking blood because they do not want to be the monsters that history has expected us to see them as.
The major turning point in the book is when we find that Bella’s life is in danger and how Edward and his family have to protect her from one particular bad guy vampire who is tracking her down in order to feast on her blood.
There is a lot of great drama to be found in the book and this has been further enhanced in the Twilight, the movie adaptation.
If you love the idea of a wonderful love story, you should definitely start reading the Twilight Collection as soon as possible. Once you begin one book, you will not want to stop until you find out what happens to these very absorbing characters. Will true love win out? Will Edward be able to save Bella?
